March 2012, Bracknell, Berkshire, UK – Miles 33 is pleased to announce that thomsonLocal.com, the UK based local media company, has signed a contract to upgrade their ad booking and financial systems with the latest versions of FutureProof, CMS3000 and SAM Ad Portal from Miles 33.
Like most publishers, thomsonlocal.com found its advertising activities more and more focused on the web with a growing demand for video and digital ads. In addition, thomsonlocal.com has recently launched an outdoor media product, giving its customers the opportunity to advertise their businesses on buses and required an ad booking solution that would integrate it all into a single advertising and financial management system using a single database. They chose Miles 33.
Steve Arnold, Operations Director, thomsonlocal.com said: “We are focused on becoming the only local media our customers need and as such need to ensure that our customers are given the best experience possible when working with us. This goes much further than our customer facing employees, but also the ‘behind the scenes activity’ that takes place in order to get their advertising packages live.”
He continued: “Miles 33 understood our brief and we are delighted to be working with them in order to achieve our goals.”
Rob Parsons, Account Manager at Miles 33, said “the requirements at thomsonlocal.com to package advertising across all their media outlets is a perfect example of the challenges many of today’s publishers face. Miles 33 is well positioned to address these challenges thanks to the new media features offered within integrated suite of FutureProof, SAM and CMS3000 applications.” “We are proud to have the opportunity to be working with thomsonlocal.com and look forward to a very successful implementation.” He said.
The new system will support approximately 200 users and will manage the multi-channel ad sales requirements for all of the thomsonlocal.com websites, outdoor advertising and directories.
The ad types supported include all online and print directory ad materials including video and digital ads thanks to integration with Localstars, a digital ad creation service. Ads on busses will be sold to available spaces that can accommodate up to three ads each. In line with thomsonlocal.com’s drive to provide local media opportunities to its customers services, bus ads are sold based on relevancy to each bus route.
A major consideration in selecting the system was the ability to sell packages of ads across all channels and found the enterprise-wide nature and flexibility of FutureProof and CMS fulfilling their needs.
The SAM Ad Portal and its web-services-based APIs will be used to integrate self-service functionality into the existing online directories and other ad portals.
