Isle of Wight County Press go live with WorkFlow editorial solution from Miles 33
March 23, 2010

Isle of Wight County Press Ltd, publishers of the Isle of Wight County Press weekly newspaper, are the second customer to move to the Miles 33 WorkFlow Media Neutral Editorial Solution.

When the Isle of Wight County Press went looking for an editorial solution, they had a strong need to simplify their Web Publishing processes. They selected the Miles 33 WorkFlow system because of its "from-the-ground-up" design for multi media which would allow the newsroom to modernise the way content is authored, edited and published.

"We are delighted with the Miles 33 WorkFlow System", said Robin Freeman, Managing Director of the Isle of Wight County Press. "It was quick to install and we are already seeing the efficiencies of having our newsrooms publish to print and web using the same resources, infrastructure and workflow management tools. The quality of content is improving and the effort it takes is reduced - that makes good business sense," he said.

The project, which included replacing existing fileservers and installing Windows 7 workstations in Newport for both Journalists and Sub Editors to complement the WorkFlow solution, commenced in January 2010. The first edition of the Isle of Wight County Press produced utilising WorkFlow was published on 19 March. With the WorkFlow system, all content is managed in media neutral format. Different content types can be "packaged" for ease of use in a variety of channels. In today’s Internet-centric world, content is often published on the web first, then further edited and published in print. The Miles 33 WorkFlow system provides newsrooms with that kind of flexibility and control. A built-in workflow engine can automate processes ensuring a high level of efficiency and processes that "by default" run flawlessly.

Michael Moore, Chief Executive at Miles 33 added, "WorkFlow is a new solution designed for today’s media companies. We were impressed with the Isle of Wight County Press’ modern viewpoints and goals and are extremely pleased to have worked with them on making this project a success".
