IIA FAQs

Can the services be implemented separately?

Absolutely. You do not have to commit to all services, but the more you have enabled, the higher the business opportunity becomes.

How does the rotating text ad work?

The IIA service automatically extracts name, phone, and service from live ads in your classified section and turns them into mini text ads with a link. The IIA service then displays a series of these ads along side content on your webpage, giving your readers a view they are already familiar with (on search engines). The IIA service automatically rotates the ads so everyone gets equal exposure. Clicking on the ad can take your reader to the advertiser's full ad, or their webpage.

What about the Business Directory, is that like a Yellow Page?

Similar. In essence, it lets your readers look up a service they need. Examples could be a plumber or a computer specialist. The IIA service automatically extracts the information from your classified and retail ads. Information like name, service offered, phone number, address and email are automatically indexed and used to create a "listing". The reader can look up a service and IIA will return a list of listings matching the criteria. Each listing will have a link to the print ad that runs in your paper, pulling up a PDF of the page when clicked. The listing also includes links to a mapping service (derived from the advertiser's address) and an email link.

Where this service is different from a Yellow Pages site, it in how up-to-date the listings are. After all, the IIA service pulls information from ads running in your paper. They are therefore very current, representing advertisers who are most certainly active. Compare this to yellow pages, some of which have a 12 month shelf life.

How does the Business Bid service work?

This is a unique service that works particularly well for newspapers wanting to play a key role at the local community level. What can be more community-friendly than putting buyers and sellers in touch with one and other? The principle is simple. Someone needs a a particular service and does not really want to spend time looking up and contacting multiple providers of that service for quotes. The answer is to post a request for a "bid" on line and let interested service providers respond if they are interested in doing the work. That way, the "buyer" may peruse the bids at leisure and select contact only those who made some compelling offer.

I don't have a Miles 33 advertising system, can I still use IIA?

Absolutely! As long as your advertising system can provide an XML package containing ad details and a PDF of the ad itself (or PDF page the ad is on). IIA can be used.

How is IIA licensed?

IIA is licensed using a "pay-per-use" model so your up-front costs are minimal. You only pay a fee if the solution is generating revenue for you.
