Do I have to use the GN3/GN4 content management system to get the benefits of GNWeb?

No, not at all although you will get the best integration if you do. GNWeb is a complete Web CMS and can be deployed as such, back-ending other content creation systems. GNWeb has a fully functional WYSIWYG editor built in so you can create content and/or edit externally supplied content.

If GNWeb is a Web CMS, what other functionality does it offer?

Yes, GNWeb is a powerful Web CMS and offers a substantial number of modules to add functionality to your website. Modules include: Blogs with Commenting and a Content Rating module allow your readers to interact with your website. Groups, Friends and Media Libraries allowing you to create social networks or discussion forums. You can create Forms or Polls and of course there are extensive reporting tools to help analyse your web traffic so you can further develop your audience.

Can GNWeb be scaled?

Absolutely. GNWeb supports Web Farm configurations, letting you deploy multiple servers to scale upwards and comes with features that synchronises settings on one server to all other servers.

What technology is used?

GNWeb is built using Microsoft’s “Dot Net” technology.

Is content searchable?

Absolutely. GNWeb includes a full text search engine “out-of-the-box” and lets you search for exact phrases, specific words or all words.

What about search engine optimisation?

GNWeb offers a variety of SEO tools. Each document can have its own page title, description and keywords if you wish. ALT and TITLE attributes can be added to images and links. Friendly URLs are supported and you can use H1, H2, etc elements in your content. All these tools will help you establish a search engine friendly web presence.

I want to run multiple websites, can I do that with a single instance of GNWeb?

Yes you can manage multiple web sites from a single installation. Not only is this very efficient if you want to manage those websites with a single group of people, it is also makes it simple if you want to share content between these websites.

What about Mobile Devices?

GNWeb allows you to create websites optimised for mobile devices, such as iPhone, Blackberry or phones with Windows Mobile or Google Android. The mobile websites can use formatting and navigation optimised for smaller screens and less capable mobile browsers. They can also re-use existing content from your main website so you don't have to copy it and keep it updated manually.

When the CMS recognises a mobile device, it can automatically redirect the visitor to the optimised mobile site.
