PRESS RELEASE

Iliffe News and Media have agreed a deal with Miles 33 to implement the Miles 33 FutureProof Advertising Business System across all of its publishing companies by the end of 2007.

Iliffe News and Media, part of Yattendon Investment Trust Plc, has ordered the Miles 33 FutureProof CRM, Advertising, Planning, Production and Accounts modules.

Iliffe News and Media comprises four regional newspaper publishing companies, Channel Television, and Apollo Digital Developments.

In total, INML publishes three evening newspapers, seven paid-for weekly newspapers, 22 free newspapers plus 7 Sunday free newspapers, 1 quarterly, 9 monthly glossy magazines and 29 websites together with a number of specialist niche titles.

With a combined circulation and distribution of almost 1.2 million copies per week, the portfolio of titles extends throughout Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Staffordshire, Derbyshire and Warwickshire.

INML now ranks in the top 10 regional newspaper publishers in the country in terms of copies sold or distributed.

INML formed a cross functional steering group to drive the selection process. After reviewing a number of potential solutions, two suppliers were short listed. The Miles 33 system was selected on its clean look and feel, its web booking and open system functionality; and, the companies experience in supplying centralised systems for its existing customer base.

INML will install a wide area enterprise, with Microsoft Windows 2003 operating software and a Microsoft SQL 2005 Server relational database on centralised servers. The central Clustered Servers and SAN in Cambridge will be duplicated within a hosting system supplier in the Docklands, London. Bedford, Herts and Essex, Staffordshire and eighteen remote offices across these centres will be connected to the main offices in Cambridge. Terminal Services and IIS will support 262 client management and advertising booking business workstations, 65 production and twelve Beacon planning workstations. A centrally integrated accounts system, the Miles 33 CMS3000 credit management, invoicing and sales ledger modules will link to the existing ledgers used within INML.

Explaining the total investment of over £1.4m, Martin Simpson, Head of IT for INML said “These investments represent a major step forward for the Group, and will lead to significant improvements in the advertising/financial and production processes. They will deliver synergies and efficiency benefits which we believe will directly improve our levels of customer service and care. Over the last eighteen months the publishing businesses within INML made a number of significant newspaper acquisitions and this investment will further assist in streamlining the process of integration.”

Michael Moore, Managing Director at Miles 33 added “INML is a very progressive and forward thinking group, quick to see the benefits of the new technologies that Miles 33 are continuing to develop. They will join a growing group of FutureProof customers that has grown to over 36 multi-site systems with user counts as high as 750 users. Miles 33 now has close to 11,000 FutureProof users across the UK, Republic of Ireland and the USA.

Miles 33 have had another excellent year with strong performance in our domestic markets coupled with an ever increasing customer base in the USA. Our unique business model and strong product offering has secured a strategically important customer, and I am looking forward to building a long term relationship with this Group.”
