Miles 33 to introduce new
software licensing model at IFRA

Designed to ease cash flow and capital expenditure

October 1, 2008, Bracknell, UK – Miles 33 will be showcasing its entire product portfolio at IFRA 2008, a European debut. On display will be the highly successful FutureProof suite, in use at hundreds of publishers throughout the UK and Americas.

The FutureProof suite of products represent integrated packages of advertising and editorial management applications. On the advertising side it covers ad sales, credit management, accounts receivable, Internet self serve, production tracking, ad planning and pagination. On the editorial side, document and content management, pagination, media neutral content authoring and workflow management are offered. The Workflow editorial module takes advantage of open source technologies, such as the Alfresco document management system for which Miles 33 is a Gold Solution Partner.

Contrary to what is customary for licensing in the newspaper software industry where large, upfront fees are paid before the system is even installed, all of the Miles 33 products are available with low Annual Software License fees due after the software is in production use. This provides a quicker ROI model especially in tight economic times.

“This dramatically reduces the costs of investing in new technology” said Michael Moore, Miles 33 CEO. “The model virtually eliminates the risk of purchasing systems as no license fee is charged until you go live. In other words, you pay when the system is working for you, not before” he said.

The Annual License fee includes software maintenance and upgrades, thus ensuring all customers can stay current without incurring extra costs. The model has been extremely popular, especially in times when ad revenues are under pressure and publishers need to re-energize their ad sales efforts with new tools. They can do so with minimal risk and very low upfront costs. The model is extremely flexible — if a site’s business fluctuates, the annual licence is adjusted up or down accordingly.

You only “pay for what you use” is the underlying Miles 33 principle.
